The active phase of reconstruction of the airport "Dnepropetrovsk" was launched in May this year and will be completed in 2012. Total investment in the development of the airport will make more than 1 billion hryvnia. Approximately 50% of the total funding are put into the reconstruction of the air strip.
The project envisages the development of the airport in full compliance with ICAO standards, recommended by IATA and the EU Directives on the quality of service for passengers and airlines.
The reconstruction of the airfield infrastructure is a whole range of activities, including construction of a new runway (Runway), repair of the existing runway and existing taxiways, apron reconstruction, lighting and navigation systems.
Reconstruction and repairment of the apron, taxiways - will be carried out with increased coverage and increase their carrying capacity. The platform will be significantly expanded; its area will be increased by 75%, additional parking will be built for medium-and long-haul aircrafts, will be increased the total number of aircraft parking areas.
Restriction of airport capacity in the period of construction work was a necessary measure, which, unfortunately, had a negative effect on the production of many air companies, including basic airline "Dniproavia", company "Turkish Airlines", "Austrian Airlines" and "Aerosvit". In soybeans and foremost, the decline in airline service at the airport "Dnepropetrovsk" has led to a drop in his income.
Intensification of construction work has allowed the administration of the airport to remove some restrictions on the operation of the airfield facilities ... In addition, the planned reconstruction of engineering infrastructure of the airport - overhaul of the boiler room, utilities and other facilities. In the Dnepropetrovsk airport already has been started the construction of a hangar for aircraft maintenance, especially, Boeing and Embraer, which will allow most of the work of technical support to aircraft in Ukraine. By 2012 will also have to build a new hotel complex at the level of comfort meets international standards.
